As another day begins, for most an unawareness of impending danger camouflages the threat that a terrorist attack is in progress. In fact, the terrorists have the benefit of surprise and a plan to kill thousands while injuring millions – that’s right – millions! No government homeland security, missile defense systems or baggage checks can or will stop the present invasion. Impossible?
Not just possible, but a terrorist battle is going on this moment against YOU! The terrorists attacking you now are the health terrorist that assault us constantly with the purpose to drain our nutrients and utilize our body structure for their own survival. The health invaders, called pathogens, invade our core being in our body cells to literally take over our body functions to the point our personal defenses break down and insufficient nutrients and oxygen cause apoptosis, or cell death. These killers enter our body’s through our skin, the air we breathe, the food we eat and the liquids we drink.
Average life expectancy is now about 78 years, but that is not necessarily with quality or enjoyment of living day to day. At birth, the person who delivered you into this world could have informed your parents that with regret they should know you have only an estimated 683,280 hours to live! Does a sense of urgency creep into your thoughts when you subtract how many hours have already passed? How you live your life and prepare for the body war in which you are engaged every minute of every day determines whether you have a quality life rather than just a quantity of life.
If you think you are not under attack, note if you have been challenged by a fungal infection, allergies, bacterial infections, bronchitis, cancer, candida, chronic fatigue syndrome, common colds, diabetes, emphysema, environmental illness, hepatitis C or influenza. Have you suffered from stress related illnesses, depression, herpes, mononucleosis, parasitic invasions, periodontal disease, pneumonia, or a viral infection? And then there is that thing called “aging,” defined as “the sum total of life’s negative events.” There are many more, but you get the point! You have to fight back to survive, and you have to begin now both for yourself and those you love.
What are our defenses against those who would harm and take your health without mercy? Miraculously, your body has an incredible defense army provided by your Creator we know generally as the immune response. This massive army of health defenders fighting for you to maintain or regain your well-being numbers 20 trillion! That’s right; you have 20 trillion soldiers in your body in the presence of neutrophils, macrophages, B cells, T cells and many more to defend your health, but what condition is your health army in today?
Are your immune soldiers in peak condition in a ready state for battle at any moment in sufficient numbers with loaded weapons? Or, as with a great majority today, are these personal warriors worn down from inadequate and poor nourishment and lack of rest to repair and refurbish? Are they out of shape and sluggish from lack of exercise and exhausted from constantly being on high alert in high stress? And are they spiritually prepared with an attitude of victory and knowledge they are the army of God to protect His temple represented by your body?
God made 1/5 of your entire 100 trillion cell composition an incredibly complex combination of cells that fight back against what does not belong in the body known as “non-self.” When your immune soldiers are successful in warding off the health invaders you recognize your condition as “good health,” but too often our body wars are being lost due to lack of preparation and proper lifestyle necessary to keep our immune army strong.
We must train and condition our personal immune army beginning with good nutrition and eliminating to the extent possible of the toxins and foods that damage our bodies. The leading villain is sugar because sugar is the food of cancer and consumption can compromise our immune cells for hours if not days. Eating what keeps us alkaline rather than acidic is critical, as fungi and mycotoxins, in addition to other pathogens, thrive in an acidic environment.
Moderate exercise helps eliminate toxins through our lymphatic systems and promote adequate oxygen delivery essential for cell health. Exercise conditions our cells, muscles (including our heart) and tissues. Adequate rest for what often seems impossible – 8 hours a night – is a must to allow our bodies to deliver and process nutrients for cell nourishment, energy production, organ and body maintenance and repair.
When we do not eat right, exercise adequately or get adequate rest, we must supplement in those areas of weakness.
